Body Structure & Postural Alignment Analysis : During a private yoga lesson your body structure, posture, habitual movement patterns as well as any acute or chronic injuries will be examined. From this information a sequence can be designed which will assist in improving your physical & mental capacity.
The sequence will include asana, pranayama & meditation.
Asanas (POSTURES): The teacher will teach you the Asanas using simple steps. You will also be given a copy of your practice which you are encouraged to review in your own time.
Pranayama (BREATH AWARENESS): The breath has a direct effect on the body's nervous system and depending on which techniques are applied the breath can be used to either energize or calm the body . Common pranaymana techniques include diaphragmatic breathing and nadi shodana (pictured above). Pranayama is often preformed before meditation.
Meditation: Meditation is a fundamental component of a yoga practice. In fact, by connecting with our breath we aim to make the whole yoga practice a moving meditation. If you are ready to incorporate this into your personal yoga practice the teacher can assist you by incorporating simple techniques to makes meditation easy and accessible for you.
Mantra: Sanskrit is the ancient language of yoga. Along with Hebrew and Arabic, Sanskrit is a vibrational language. This means that the vibrations generated when Sanskrit words or mantras are spoken.
Often in yoga classes the sound of AUM is chanted to open and close the practice. There are many more sounds that can be included into a yoga practice to achieve a range of different effects. Depending on your wants and needs, Mantra can also be included into your personal practice
